Retail therapy reigns supreme in this city, but where to start? Skip the same-same mega malls and pop up to Siam Center, where on the third floor you'll find the best of Thai brands, from quirky labels to up-and-coming designers. Color block-heavy futuristic Fly Now is the most internationally well-known Thai brand. You should also visit DA+PP (professional-chic), Pedz (floral and flirty), Kloset (bold patterns and broad silhouettes), Fri27Nov (sharp men’s wear), and The Wonder Room (a rotating compendium of the curators’ favorite local designers). Or, in the opposite direction down the road from the Conrad Bangkok is Terminal 21, a labyrinth of shops from young designers on floors themed for different cities. Land in “Istanbul,” for leather- and cork-bound stationery at Labrador, Vamp Up and Folio; jewelry at Aztique (natural patterns), MaryLou (delicate and animal-themed) and Bharchad (brightly colored, indigenous-influenced); or funky leather handbags at Hob. Second floor “London,” is home to Russian Roulette (tailored men’s clothes) and Lalaclassics (swim trunks and other beach wear).
Take the SkyTrain to Siam and walk into Siam Center. To get to Terminal 21, take the SkyTrain to Asoke. Avoid the SkyTrain from either mall between the rush hour crush 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.—both BTS stops are major commuter hubs.
