Trail the locals to the centrally-located Asoke neighborhood for a massage (at a steal) in a jasmine-scented day spa, and a bite to eat. If pressed for time, Healthland on Sukhumvit Soi 19 is an efficient shop for a one-hour foot or body massage. More serene Mulberry Spa, in a traditional teak house a couple of blocks away on Soi 23, offers caviar facials and spoiling four-hands massages. Now that you’re relaxed, wander over to the ladies at the lone cart on the corner of Asoke Soi 2 (it opens at 5 p.m.) for the city’s best pad Thai and an oyster omelet (hoy tod). But don’t fill up too much: the main course is at Bharani. This 65-year-old institution is beloved as much for its boat noodles with beef steeped in blood broth as for the curiously located Cypriot Embassy on its top floor.
Asoke is a zippy 15-minute SkyTrain ride from the hotel.
